A palace and fish.

Another rainy weekend day. This is outside Deoksugung Palace. I liked being here because it was a little smaller then some of the other palaces I visited and it wasn't totally restored, so it had some wear and tear that gave it character.

The statues at the palaces are very cartoonic. They are sort of weird with there big noses and big eyes. Completely opposite of Korean characteristics. They do have some animal like components, for instance I see the    , from Alice in Wonderland.

It is amazing that these buildings are nestled between skyscrapers. That upkeep of the palaces is very good and they are super cheap to get into. It costs less then a US dollar.
Usually, all the wood work I see in the palaces have some type of painting (either decorative or just one solid color) this was just bare wood.

They were refurbishing the interior and these are the workers shoes.

After my little palace tour, Kelly and I went to Dr.Fish.
Before you put your feet in the little pond, you have to wash all the dirt off.
Then you sit on a mat and stick your feet in. Immediately, little fish will swarm your feet. The initial feeling is a little shocking. I shrieked a little and picked my feet out of the water. I had to ease them back in. It was such a weird sensation. It was sort of like the pins and needles feeling, when your leg falls asleep. After awhile, you don't really notice it until they start to go in between your toes.
They definitely covered my feet more then Kelly's.
In front of you is a table so you can snack and drink coffee, while the fish eat you. Kelly and I sat there for over an hour. No one else was there. We had all the fish to ourselves. I definitely noticed a different. They eat away most of the dead skin and my feet generally felt soother. It is kind of gross though if you think they go back and forth between your feet and someone else's. On top of that they also poop all day in the water your feet are soaking in.
Dr.Fish is in Hongdae. I never have been in Hongdae during the day. It was nice to see it a lot less crowded and in natural light, sober.
